Congresswoman Halvorson believes that when we send our troops into war, we must send them with all the equipment they need to do their jobs; and when they come home, we must provide them with the services and care they deserve. We must honor our nation's veterans by providing them with access to high quality health care, job opportunities, and the support network they need to succeed after their time of service to our nation. Congresswoman Halvorson's position as the only Illinois member of the House of Representatives on the Veterans Affairs Committee provides her with the responsibility and opportunity to protect and advocate for our Illinois veterans. She has worked to end homelessness among veterans, provide healthcare for catastrophically disabled veterans, and has advocated on behalf of women veterans across America. The Congresswoman was proud of the fact the first bill she introduced as a Member of Congress, H.R. 1335, was to eliminate cost barriers for catastrophically injured veterans to receive care.
