Congresswoman Halvorson believes our country needs a comprehensive energy plan that will strengthen our national security, grow our economy and protect our environment. She believes that such a plan must bring down energy prices for American families, increase our energy independence, update and refurbish the aging electric grid to be more energy efficient and utilize the technological capabilities of the 21st century.

Congresswoman Halvorson is working to ensure a diversified national energy portfolio that includes biofuels, wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, nuclear, natural gas and coal. Additionally, Congresswoman Halvorson supports actions to provide for more efficient energy consumption in our country, including home weatherization, energy efficient appliances and a smarter energy distribution network. As a Co-Chair of the New Democrat Coalition Energy Task Force, Congresswoman Halvorson continues to advocate for the creation of green collar jobs to help power our nation's future and reduce our reliance on foreign sources of energy.
